15 August: A hunting party sets om A cheerful company gallops over the drawbridge ofthe castle in the background tocatch upwiththegraupin theforegroundwheretheleadingriderbeckonson the laggard who has stopped to water his horse. The group consists of nobles. servants, a lady and various well/differentiated breeds ofdog, the most notable of which is the beagle peering out from behind the greyhound in the centre. The long spears show that they are offon a boar hum. the outcome ofwhich we shaH see in December (plate 23). (F.8JJ)
